Adding to an immense back catalog of jazz, folk, and classical music, Big Sur is Colorado-raised guitarist Bill Frisells aural homage to the idyllic Californian coastline region. Born out of a single piece originally commissioned by the artistic director of the Monterey Jazz Festival, Tim Jackson this suite was inspired by a lengthy amount of time spent alone at Glen Deven Ranch. Combining intricate guitar work and plaintive string music, 30 years into his career this is Frisells first release for Sonys relaunched OKeh imprint.
