Probably the best-known comic group in the music business is back in 2017 with a new album: ‘Humanz’ is the name of the band’s fourth studio album, for which Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett collaborated with a whole host of top-class colleagues as usual.

The guest list for ‘Humanz’ includes Grace Jones, Danny Brown, Benjamin Clementine, Pusha T, Vince Staples, Peven Everett, Mavis Staples, Jehnny Beth (Savages), and De La Soul are once again on board. The biggest sensation, however, is probably the collaboration of Oasis frontman and long-term rival Noel Gallagher.

The new album was recorded in London, New York, Chicago, Paris and Jamaica. The Twilite Tone of D/P and Remi Kabaka took care of the production.

The result is a 19-song epic that is really worth listening to. Gorillaz have already revealed just how much in advance with four song releases: “We’ve Got The Power”, “Andromeda”, “Ascension” and the single “Saturnz Barz”, for which there is also a special 3D animation video.

Incidentally, the standard CD comes with different covers. Chance decides which of the four band members is featured on it.
