Description

Giants of contemporary ambient and electronic inspired music, A Winged Victory For The Sullen make a bold return on new album The Undivided Five. The pair, made up of Dustin OHalloran and Adam Wiltzie, have created iconic film scores and forward-thinking ambient groups, releasing a series of game-changing records.

On The Undivided Five they rekindle their unique partnership for only their second piece of original music outside of film, TV and stage commissions, creating an album that channels ritual, higher powers and unspoken creative energies producing bold new work built on their foundations in ambient and neoclassical.

Their 2014 album Atomos was the product of a commission to score a new performance by Royal Ballet choreographer Wayne McGregor, while 2016s Iris was the score for director Jalil Lesperts thriller, In The Shadow Of Iris.

OHalloran previously won an Emmy for his 2015 theme song for Jill Soloways Transparent series and was nominated for an Oscar as well as a Golden Globe for his 2016 score with Hauschka for Garth Davis Lion. Wiltzie, meanwhile, founded lauded ambient-classical groups Stars Of The Lid, The Dead Texan and Aix Em Klemm and has since scored Hollywood films, including a collaboration with Jóhann Jóhannsson for 2014s The Theory Of Everything.

Critical acclaim for their 2011 self-titled debut album from Pitchfork, The Guardian, Mojo, Uncut, Drowned in Sound and The Quietus, among many others. In 2014 their second studio album Atmos gained press support from The Guardian, The Arts Desk, Financial Times, Telegraph, Evening Standard, The Times, The Observer, Uncut, London in Stereo and Music Week, to name but a few.

A Winged Victory For The Sullen have played some of the worlds most celebrated venues, including a sold out Boiler Room performance at Londons Barbican and a 2015 BBC Proms show curated by Mary Anne Hobbs at the Royal Albert Hall, in addition to stellar festival performances at Primavera, Latitude, MIRA festival and The Great Escape. The duo also toured Europe, playing in London, Manchester and Paris, performing headline shows with Olafur Arnalds along the way.

The band continually receive strong radio support from Mary Anne Hobbs, who recently called them Two of my favourite musicians on Earth and previously chose their debut as her Album Of The Year on 6 Music.

The duo will embark on a tour across Europe in early 2020 with stops in London, Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow, Belfast and more.
