Before Gothenburgs Graveyard had their own brand of beer in Sweden, or won a Swedish Grammy for Best Hard Rock album, or landed on three Billboard charts and multiple Best of 2011 lists with their album Hisingen Blues, they caught the attention of Rolling Stones David Fricke at SXSW in 2008. They blew a few dozen minds, Fricke said, with their unison-fuzz riffs and sharp rhythmic turnaroundslike a prog-rock Free or a nimbler Black Sabbath. Four years and hundreds of tour stops later, Graveyards forthcoming album, Lights Out,2 reflects the diversity of their writing: beautifully crafted hard rock (Decibel Magazine) with a dose of soulful, 70s throwback (Brooklyn Vegan) blues that sound spontaneous and fresh (Guitar World). From the apocalyptic, riff-driven An Industry of Murder, to the melancholy Slow Motion Countdown and psychedelic Endless Night, the album shows them ranging from ace rock lords to contemplative balladeers. Graveyards incendiary shows have earned them a legion of devoted fans and a groundswell of acclaim. Earlier this year, they sold out nearly every date on their first headlining U.S. tour and have previously shared stages with Motorhead, The Sword, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden and Clutch.
