Description
So after Matt Jarrett convinced us to release CHROMA (and yes he was so right), we took the drunken next step and added him to the label. So now there are three of us.
Matt promptly planned a ruddy ace record store day 2019 event in Newport, with multiple bands in differing venues, and both a Libertino Records stage and a Popty Ping one. Anyhow, Red Telephone had put a digital single out with Libertino, so Matt asked them to play.
Frankly we thought them bloody brilliant.
So after a quick check with Gruff at Libertino to ask if we could borrow his band (he was happy to let them take a free transfer to us and reckoned it an excellent plan). We found a rare occasion when all three of us were in Cardiff, and an afternoon in the City Arms with Declan Red Telephone was organised and we now are.
The 6th release in our series of coloured singles. Cardiff-based indie-psych-rockers Red Telephone have already gathered the kind of critical mass that bends industrial girders. They take the best elements of Suede, Syd Barrett, the Teardrop Explodes and the Psychedelic Furs in a blender and spit them back fully in their audiences face.
More than one journalist has mentioned Strangelove and Stereolab, and were happy with that.
Their blend of Welsh psych, scuzzy garage and dreamy synth has garnered airplay from BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Wales. The band have already grabbed live appearances at Swn and Focus Wales, and more notably flew to Estonia to play Music Week in Tallin in March 2019 and Other Voices in Cardigan later the same year.
