Debut introduction from an intensely loud and unorthodox high-energy trio from Glasgow.
Andy and Pete began playing as a duo in 2008 on many diverse bills and strange locations (skate ramps, vans, fashion stores and bar tops), aided by a 50ft guitar lead and a minimal drum kit. Joined in 2010 by Allan Stewart of Idlewild and Desalvo, the band has gained a fuller sound, combining the riffs of Black Sabbath, the frenzied energy of Lightning Bolt and the attitude of MC5.
After releasing two EPs on DIY labels, the band recorded a full album of material in Glasgows Diving Bell Lounge studio with Marcus Mackay (Frightened Rabbit / Reindeer Section), mixed by Iain Cook of Aereogramme/ The Unwinding Hours.
The CD and LP formats are limited to 500 copies each. The LP is pressed on heavyweight white vinyl and also includes a CD of the album.
Holy Mountain are relentless in their performance and Rock Sound are in awe of their resplendent ear-bleeding sound. Frontman Andy McGlones guitar playing is the perfect call back to life affirming bands such as Black Sabbath, while drummer Pete Flett plays with such strength it can only be described as exacerbated destruction, his precision and control metronome-like Rock Sound
