Fontaines D.C. – Skinty Fia
Skinty Fia is the third studio album from Dublin post-punk band Fontaines D.C., released in 2022. Following the success of A Hero’s Death — which reached number two in the UK charts and earned Grammy, Brit and Ivor Novello nominations — the band returned with a darker, more introspective record.
The title, an Irish phrase roughly translating to “the damnation of the deer”, reflects themes of displacement, identity and cultural erosion. Written largely while the band were living away from Ireland, the album captures a sense of distance and unease that runs through its brooding atmosphere and lyrical focus. Balancing intimate reflection with sharp social observation, Skinty Fia expands Fontaines D.C.’s sound while maintaining the intensity that made them one of the defining bands of the modern post-punk revival.
