Within A Light Beam is the debut album from I See Islands, the moniker of singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Seamus Joseph O’Donnell. Comprised of eleven songs, Within A Light Beam is a record about the break up of a relationship and subsequent recovery which is a subject close to the heart of its creator. The songs themselves take in many different forms and structures, such is their creator’s experimental nature when it comes to songwriting and arrangements. “I’d find a nice sound and if they all linked for me to compliment the song, build it into a piece of music. Trial and error really. It was very quick. Simple but effective.” Using this approach, the songs developed and grew over time, arriving at Within A Light Beam.
