Recorded In 1968, Introducing Kenny Cox And The Contemporary Jazz Quintet Was The Debut Album By This Under-Recognized Detroit Band Led By Pianist Kenny Cox Which Featured Trumpeter Charles Moore, Tenor Saxophonist Leon Henderson, Bassist Ron Brooks, And Drummer Danny Spencer. The Band’s Brand Of Post-Bop Was Certainly Influenced By The Miles Davis Quintet, But Exhibited Its Own Unique Sensibilities On Memorable Originals Like “Mystique,” “Trance Dance,” And David Durrah’s Beautiful Piece “You”.
