Description
Singer Nick Klein and producer Ferdous Dehzad were childhood friends and grew up in a small town called Helmond in the Netherlands. Together as KLYNE, the duo make mellow electronic pop that fizzes and glitches like a sunnier counterpart to Jai Pauls harder sound.
Klyne first caught attention with their critically-acclaimed debut EP Paralyzed on Aesop, as well as their debut remix a rework of Disclosures Omen feat. Sam Smith (Ferdous being personally asked by the brothers and Sam) before signing to Because Music and going on to release their first two singles, Dont Stop & Water Flow.
Both tracks hit #1 on Hype Machine whilst garnering support from i-D, PIGEONS & PLANES, THE FADER and NOISEY, receiving airplay support from BBC R1, 1Xtra, 6 Music and Beats1 as well as Water Flow racing to over 7M streams and counting on Spotify.
These early singles also came accompanied by stunningly original videos the Dont Stop video was directed by choreographer and film-maker Holly Blakey and the Water Flow video, directed by Thomas Ralph, shot entirely on iPhones, documented three friends on a road trip across a fractured Europe. A nod to Ferdous Afghani heritage and Nicks Indonesian background, they wished to capture the continent from their unique perspectives. Their most recent lyric video Sure Thingwas another edgy, iconic concept directed by Margot Bowman based on the inner workings of the machines that record us, i.e. our phones.
Following a sold-out show debut headline show at The Pickle Factory in London and two tantalizing morsels of their forthcoming LP in Still Not Over You and Sure Thing, Klyne have delivered music and visuals consistently above the bar, incorporating thoughtful and intelligent visual takes on the world astride their beautifully unorthodox pop. Its given the arrival of Klynes debut full-lenth body of work the accolade of being one of the most anticipated emerging LPs of the year on 30th June.
Having supported the likes of Years & Years across Europe, Christine and the Queens as well as having made their debut trip to the US with shows in NYC and at SXSW, Klyne will be playing across Europe this summer.
