Released in 1993, So Tonight That I Might See is the second album from Mazzy Star — the Los Angeles duo of Hope Sandoval and David Roback. Hazy, unhurried and deeply atmospheric, it draws on dream pop, blues and psychedelia to create something that feels suspended in its own time.
Fade Into You is the centrepiece — one of the most quietly devastating songs of the decade, built on a single guitar figure and Sandoval’s barely-there vocal. Bells Ring, Five String Serenade and Into Dust are equally hypnotic. A record best heard late at night.
