Description
British pianist Mike Taylor (1938–1969) was only able to record two studio albums before his drug addiction left him homeless and he drowned in the River Thames. On his debut album, “Pendulum,” now being reissued on vinyl in Decca’s historic “British Jazz Explosion” series, he presented himself with a fantastic quartet and a program of highly modern and unusually arranged jazz standards and original compositions.
In 2025, Decca will reissue two Mike Taylor albums on vinyl for the first time since their original release. The recordings were remastered from the original analog tape and pressed on 180g vinyl, along with a detailed booklet in which British jazz expert Tony Higgins discusses the artist’s music and life.
These reissues were remastered at Gearbox Studios in London using the original tapes (or high-resolution digital source files derived from the original tapes) transferred to a Studer tape machine and then mastered using an analog mastering console.
