Description
British psychedelic pop-rock band The Idle Race came out of the same U.K. music hall tradition as The Kinks and served as a springboard for ELO mastermind Jeff Lynne. Chock full of first-person storytelling, English undertones, lush harmonies, Beatles-esque whimsy and inventive production, the underrated outfit wonderfully documents the blossoming talent of a young music legend on the precipice of greatness and also served as a significant link between The Move, Electric Light Orchestra, The Steve Gibbons Band and Mike Sheridan & The Nightriders. The Idle Race was the first major signing to the British arm of Liberty Records issuing such memorable singles as Here We Go Round The Lemon Tree, The Skeleton and the Roundabout, and The End Of The Road. This new Run Out Groove curated collection presents the Idle Races best Liberty-era tracks including mono and stereo versions plus alternate takes. Schizophrenic Psychedelia comes housed in a single pocket tip-on jacket with new artwork and liner notes.
