The 2003 Richard Linklater hit comedy School of Rock follows a failed wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. Completely disinterested in academic work, Dewey Finn (Jack Black) decides to create his own curriculum, turning his class into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. And the accompanying soundtrack rocks just as hard as the laugh-out-loud film. Featuring old-school hits from icons like Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, AC/DC, The Doors, The Who and Black Sabbath – and teaching listeners a thing or two with the inclusion of then relative newcomers like The Darkness and The Black Keys plus songs from Black and his chorus of students. Now nearly two decades old, School of Rock boasts cult-classic status.
