This best-of compilation from Teresa Teng’s Taurus era (originally released in 1986)—featuring the hit singles “Tsugunai” and “Aijin”, their B-sides “Waratte Kanpai” and “Ame ni Nurete”, the city pop–infused “Midasarete”, and seven beautifully re-recorded versions of signature Polydor-era classics such as “Yoru no Ferry Boat” and “Gelsomina no Aruita Michi”—is now revived as part of the ultra–high-end 100% Pure LP series. Also included as bonus tracks are two of her major songs released after the original album: “Toki no Nagare ni Mi wo Makase” and “Wakare no Yokan”, making this the ultimate selection.
“100% Pure LP” is a special Made-in-Japan series launched in 2012, widely recognized around the world as a pioneer of modern high-fidelity vinyl. One of its defining features is the use of uncolored virgin vinyl, completely eliminating carbon and other pigments typically used in standard LPs—materials known to affect sound quality. Using only pure, straight PVC compound ensures remarkable consistency and stability in the pressing process.
Another major highlight is the adoption of metal master pressing. By omitting the usual intermediate steps—metal mother and stamper—the grooves are pressed directly from the metal master, allowing for exceptionally accurate groove formation. Due to lower durability, however, the number of pressings must be strictly limited.
This release further elevates fidelity by using 45RPM, a format generally reserved for 12-inch singles. Although the shorter playback time per side necessitates a 2LP configuration, the wider and longer grooves—and the increased rotational speed—provide superior stability and deliver significant advantages in sonic detail and richness.
The audio sources are DSD files transferred from the original analog master tapes in 2018 (with the two bonus tracks sourced from 96kHz/24bit WAV files transferred from the original analog tapes in 2025). Mastering has been kept as flat as possible to preserve freshness and dynamic range, pursuing a natural and faithful reproduction of the original sound.
Through an uncompromising approach to every stage—from selecting masters and vinyl materials to the pressing method—the 100% Pure LP series extracts the full potential of the vinyl format. The result is a sound that retains the punch and warmth unique to analog, while eliminating all muddiness and coloration. What emerges is, quite literally, a pure and crystal-clear sonic experience.
