North Miami Beach’s The Belles were remarkably free of any masculine influence – an all-girl, teen rock band who played instruments, wrote songs, and were a good representation of multiculturalism in the 1960s. The Belles’ lone single featured ‘Melvin’, a genderswapped rewrite of Them’s ‘Gloria’, backed with Come Back’ Pure representation of girls in the garage.
