Description
Queenadreena were an English alternative rock band that formed in London, England in 1999 by vocalist KatieJane Garside and guitarist Crispin Gray, who had previously collaborated in the celebrated but short-lived band Daisy Chainsaw. Butcher and The Butterfly is the end of a trilogy of albums that explored Katie-Jane Garsides own obsessions: exploitation, sexuality, innocence, childhood and the things that people do to make it through the night. With Queenadreena the finger always points inwardly as well as outwardly, but along with the disgust and shock, Butcher and The Butterfly cant contain the sheer joy of taking that violence and rage and using it to create something new. Tunes like the brilliant In Red take an exhilaratingly physical approach to rock n roll that sounds as much like a kind of explosive blues as it does punk or metal. Includes controversial single FM Doll, which discusses child beauty pageants and the 1996 murder of JonBenét Ramsey.
