Description
Goran Bregovic is a native of Sarajevo. His latest album is inspired by the history of that city and its different faiths, special identity, fusions and complex paradoxes. Sarajevo was ruled at different times by the Byzantine, Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian empires. In the 16th century, Sephardic Jews banished from Spain joined its Catholics, Muslims and Orthodox Christians to coexist in That little Jerusalem of the Balkans To write Three Letters from Sarajevo , Goran Bregovi? United the citys three religions in harmony around his traditional Weddings and Funerals Orchestra. Then, for the occasion, he brought in a full symphony orchestra to work on three long, instrumental pieces with three solo violins, together with vocalists (Rachid Taha, Riff Cohen, Asaf Avidan And Bebe) to record his amazing, explosive songs. Few musicians have been able to develop an artistic spectrum that can cover such a wide variety of styles and techniques. Today in 2017,he is bringing down walls and opening borders
