In a unique collaboration between Verve Records and Walt Disney Records, the two esteemed labels have teamed up to present the compilation album We Love Disney, which will be released in October 2015. The compilation features the hottest artists from across the pop, rock, R&B, and country worlds delivering their own unique interpretations of classic Disney songs. The album was produced by multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning producer and Verve Music Group Chairman David Foster.
When the opportunity arose to partner with Walt Disney Records, I jumped on it, says Foster. The Disney franchise is something that brings out the kid in all of us. No matter how old you are, 3 or 103, when you hear the word Disney you light up from within. And there isnt a person on the planet who doesnt have a favorite Disney song. We tapped into that passion with all of the artists on the album. I tried to make the songs timeless so you couldnt tell whether they were recorded 30 years ago or 30 years from now. The Disney catalog is so amazing. You have so many songs to pick from, going back almost 80 years now. So its an endless treasure and one of the most rewarding projects that Ive ever done and Ive done a lot of stuff.
The album features singer-songwriter Ne-Yo on the Oscar and a Golden Globe Award-winning song Friend Like Me, from 1992s Aladdin; British pop singer and songwriter Jessie J on Part of Your World, from 1989s The Little Mermaid; multi-platinum pop/R&B singer/songwriter Jason Derulo on the Oscar and a Golden Globe Award-winning song Can You Feel the Love Tonight, from 1994s The Lion King; multi-platinum solo artist and No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani on the Oscar-nominated song The Rainbow Connection, from 1979s The Muppet Movie; multi-platinum pop singer Ariana Grande on Zero To Hero, from 1997s Hercules; singer/songwriter Jhené Aiko on In a World of My Own/Very Good Advice from 1961s Alice in Wonderland; and rock band Fall Out Boy on I Wanna Be Like You (The Monkey Song) from 1967s The Jungle Book.
The collection also includes singer-songwriter and Capitol Records artist Tori Kelly on Colors of the Wind, the Oscar, Golden Globe, and Grammy-winning theme song from 1995s Pocahontas; critically acclaimed country artist Kacey Musgraves on A Spoonful of Sugar from 1964s Mary Poppins; soul/R&B singer and Verve Recording artist Charles Perryon Evrybody Wants To Be a Cat, from 1970s The Aristocats; British soul singer Jessie Ware on A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes, which appears in both the 1950 animated film Cinderella as well as this years enchanting adaptation of the classic film directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Lily James; best-selling country group Rascal Flatts, accompanied by Hollywood Records artist-actress Lucy Hale duet on Let It Go, the top-selling, Oscar and Grammy-winning song from the 2013 film Frozen; and a rendition of Its a Small World performed by all of the artists.
The We Love Disney: Standard Version 2LP-set includes digital downloads of all the singles as they become available and a digital download of the standard version of the We Love Disney album.
