Description
Produced by Cam Blackwood (Jamie T, London Grammar, Billie Marten, George Ezra) and mixed by Alan Moulder (Foals, Interpol, Beach House), Whats Inside Is More Than Just Ham is the debut studio album from Coventry five-piece Feet following their 10-inch English Weather. Experimentation was integral to the process of making the record, from singing about the unpredictability of the humble hot dog (which is where the album title stems from), to stepping out of their comfort zone and relinquishing traditional song structures.
Whats Inside Is More Than Just Ham fizzes with bright, bold and intensely exciting songwriting. Combining jangly guitars with a cocksure mentality, this is pop music in 2019. There are hints of Maccabees, but you can also hear nods to Parquet Courts, Blur and the Strokes.
Going into a first album, you dont have any prior intentions, you just pack the car with cathartic autobiographies, some Carling, and if youve not been dropped by your management after a month, youve had a result, said Feet. Without any real sense of direction of scope, the album became really a reflection of the 8 or 9 months we spent moving from place to place writing the fucker. You doss about with each other for the majority of a year, somethings bound to happen, something to write about, and fortunately it did. And thats the album. But that doesnt sound very cool. Its about drugs.
